 FATEHGARH SAHIB: Congress candidate Sukhdev Singh Libra, who defeated SAD-BJP alliance candidate and Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker Charanjit Singh Atwal from Fatehgarh Sahib (reserve) constituency with the margin of 34,299, got lead in five assembly segments falling under the parliamentary constituency. There are nine assembly segments under Fatehgarh Sahib parliamentary constituency and Libra got lead in Fatehgarh Sahib assembly segment, Amloh , Khanna , Raikot and Amargarh assembly segments while Atwal got lead in Bassi Pathana assembly segment, Samrala assembly segment, Sahnewal assembly segment, Payal assembly segmen. Sadhu Singh Dharamsot is presently Congress Amloh assembly segment, Didar Singh Bhatti is from Sirhind assembly segment, Bikramjit Singh Khalsa is SAD MLA from Khanna, Harmohinder Singh Pardhan is Congress MLA from Raikot while Bassi Pathana, Tej Parkash Singh is Congress MLA from Payal, Jagjiwan Singh Khirnia is SAD MLA from Samrala assembly segment while Fatehgarh Sahib, Bassi Pathana, Sahnewal, Amargarh are newly created assembly segment after delimitation. In Payal Atwal got lead from Libra, the constituency which is being represented by senior Congress leader and former minister Tej Parkash Singh, whose close relative Ravneet Singh Bittu successfully contested from Anandpur Sahib parliamentary constituency. In Bassi Pathana assembly segment 35,966 votes were polled to Libra while 36,055 to Atwal, in Fatehgarh Sahib assembly segment 43,548 votes were polled to Libra while 30,920 to Atwal, in Amloh assembly segment 38,451 votes were polled to Libra while 31,047 to Atwal, in Khanna assembly segment 46,204 votes were polled to Libra while 36,446 to Atwal, in Samrala constituency 47,401 votes were polled to Libra while 47,859 to Atwal, in Sahnewal assembly segment 43,947 votes were polled to Libra while 46,818 to Atwal, in Payal assembly segment 45,867 votes were polled to Libra while 47,143 to Atwal, in Raikot 45,909 votes were polled to Libra while 44,299 to Atwal, in Amargarh assembly segment 46,264 votes were polled to Libra while 38,668 to Atwal.It may be mentioned here that maximum polling was recorded in Payal assembly segment in Fatehgarh Sahib (reserve) parliamentary constituency, where the polling was held on May 13. Maximum male electorate used their right in Fatehgarh Sahib Lok Sabha constituency. Total polling was recorded around 69 per cent. Total 8, 38,143 electorate used their right of voting. In Payal assembly segment total 1, 04,896 voters exercised their right of voting. In this constituency 55,420 male and 49,476 female voters polled their votes. In Samrala assembly constituency total 1, 03,010 voters polled their votes. In this constituency 54,246 male and 48,764 female voters polled their votes. In Sahnewal constituency total 98,429 voters polled their votes. In this constituency 53,753 male and 44,676 female voters polled their votes. In Raikot constituency total 95,353 voters polled their votes. In this constituency 49,867 male and 45,486 female polled their votes. In Amargarh constituency total 94,835 voters polled their votes. In this constituency 50,848 male and 43,996 female polled their votes. In Khanna constituency total 94,629 voters were polled. In this constituency there are 50,498 male and 44,131 female voters polled votes. In Fatehgarh Sahib assembly constituency total 85,425 votes were polled. In this constituency 45,864 male and 39,561 female polled theirvotes. In Bassi Pathana constituency total 83,393 votes were polled. In this constituency 44,914 male and 38,479 female voters polled their constituency. In Amloh constituency total 78,556 voters polled their constituency. In this constituency 42,263 male and 36,293 female voters polled their votes. In Bassi Pathana constituency 2,493, in Fatehgarh Sahib 5,277, in Amloh 3,105 in Khanna 2893, in Samrala 3506, in Sahnewal 2,295, in Payal 4317, in Raikot 4384 in Amargarh constituency 3,376 voters polled their votes without voters’ identity card. |

Khanna, About 44 polling stations have been constituted in the Machhiwara block for voters of 107 villages and a few urban areas. The police has already declared 20 polling stations sensitive, especially the one at Ratipur village.Police officials said extra security forces had been deployed to manage the polling process

नामांकन पत्र दाखिल करने के अंतिम दिन आरएसपी के भूपेन्द्र सिंह, बहुजन विकास पार्टी के हीरालाल, राष्ट्रवादी जनता दल के रतनजीत सिंह के अलावा आजाद प्रत्याशी प्रेम सिंह व अमरीक सिंह ने नामांकन पत्र दाखिल किए। इससे पूर्व शिअद बादल व भाजपा गठबंधन के चरणजीत सिंह अटवाल, कांग्रेस के सुखदेव सिंह लिबड़ा, बसपा के राय सिंह, लोक भलाई पार्टी के वीपी सिंह गिल, शिअद मान के कुलवंत सिंह संधू, शिवसेना हिन्दुस्तान के सिकंदर सिंह तथा लोक जनशक्ति पार्टी के प्रत्याशी राम सिंह ने पर्चे दाखिल किए थे। जिला चुनाव अधिकारी ने बताया कि नामांकन पत्रों की जांच 25 अप्रैल को होगी तथा 27 तक उम्मीदवार नाम वापस ले सकते हैं।
